DeGidio served as the Board Chair of the 163rd Street Improvement Council which is a community based non-profit organization founded in the South Bronx in 1965 by a group of activists who were concerned about the lack of resources and erosion of Bronx County, particularly the South Bronx. He continues to work to expand new business efforts, as well as explore strategic acquisitions. He is also involved in leading various initiatives that benefit MKI clients and reinforce its leadership position, including helping clients implement green building programs and energy conservation measures, guiding new client boards during new development transitions, implementing new technologies, and advising on major construction projects. During his tenure, he has overseen the expansion of Maxwell-Kates’ business, leading the company’s foray into Harlem and Williamsburg in particular, where the company now enjoys a strong presence. Over that time, he has been responsible for directing and overseeing a portfolio of mixed-use properties, including cooperatives, condominiums, multi-family rental properties and commercial real estate. Freedman holds a PC/BR Insurance license from POHS Institute, maintains a CPM designation from NYU, and is a New York State Licensed Real Estate Broker.ĭavid DeGidio has been with Maxwell-Kates for nearly twenty years. He takes pride in having created the mentorship program at MKI to ensure the growth and development of young talent in the management industry, and still mentors several of MKI’s account executives. Aside from his leadership duties as CEO, he also still plays a role in ensuring the firm’s compliance with regulatory matters and clean building energy initiatives. Freedman’s hands-on experience ranges from managing capital projects including façade rehabs, roof replacements, elevator modernizations, and sidewalk rehab to window replacements, heating system upgrades, and more. He has vast experience in all aspects of real estate property management, having grown up in the business, learning from his father, Robert Freedman, co-founder of MKI (now retired).
